Winslow, a good fuel and food stop.
I don't have a lot to report on Winslow as I've only used it as a fuel stop. The airport is well maintained with a nice FBO and restaurant. The FBO has been recently remodeled with a nice southwestern look. In front of the FBO there is green grass and a shaded patio with chairs which looked very tempting but, we were on the way to Santa Fe.

Next to the FBO is a clean little Mexican Food  Restaurant with windows overlooking the ramp. The food is average and the service is quick! They had some very interesting salsa's at the Salsa Bar.

Finding the self service pump is a little tough. Go past the FBO towards the approach end of runway 29. After you've passed all the buildings there is a wide spot in the taxiway. Can't miss it!

What to do in Winslow?

About 10 miles west of the airport is Meteor Crater. I've been there before and it's definitely worth the stop. The FBO does have rental cars but you'll need to make prior arrangements. Plan on spending about 4 hours at the crater and you will have seen all there is to see. http://www.meteorcrater.com/index.php

How big is Meteor Crater? Look at the cars parked in the lot. This thing had to make a huge explosion. If I remember correctly the meteor itself was about the size of a wheel barrow.
Enroute to Winslow, passing south of Flagstaff.
