The following aviation videos were shot by my wife and I while flying to some of our favorite Southwest USA destinations. Most of the videos were shot from my Bellanca however some were shot from other planes where I was a passenger. We hope you enjoy these general aviation videos almost as much as we enjoyed the flights.
Many people have asked me to post videos in Windows format so they don't have to load Real Player. Starting in 2008 I'll upload both formats but the WMV files are about 300% larger.
= Videos with the most positive feed back. I suggest you start here!
How do you do that? I've tried to answer the common questions I get on how I shoot my videos from the plane and how I've tied the intercom in to the camera. Please Click Here if you have any questions.
Sept 23, 2012 - A new angle on landing at Catalina
January 31, 2012 - Our trip to Scotty's Castle and
the ghost town of Leadfield in Death Valley CA
October 8, 2010 - A video of our trip to Sierra
Vista Arizona. Several of you asked for more ATC
and this video has it. The downside is it's a really big file.
April 11, 2010 - An IFR flight to San Diego's
Lindbergh Field. I removed the enroute phase and captured the
departure and arrival only. Lot's of ATC in this one for those
of you who ask for it. Big file!
December 27, 2009 - A couple of people have asked
for a video of landing at Sedona. I was using my new helmet cam but
it must have been bumped because it became a mustache cam.
It is what it is!
August 30, 2009 - My flight over the Station Fire
to Watsonville for breakfast. This file is really big but I didn't
want to ignore the part of getting over the TFR.
June 13, 2009 - Adrienne and I landing on the grass runway at
Columbia (o22). Mike Macosko took this video with a
very old still camera. The memory card is held in with painters
tape! The quality of the video is poor but audio is priceless! Not
sure anyone knew the camera even recorded audio. I had tears in my
eyes I was laughing so hard.
June 5, 2009 - Getting iced up is never fun but when it
happens you still need to fly the plane. Another trip to Grants Pass
Oregon. Funny how three trips in 60 days and three totally different
5, 2009 - We had to get a Pop-Up IFR clearance into
Sacramento Executive Airport for fuel and lunch. I have to hand it
to West Coast ATC'ers, they are very easy to work with.
May 17, 2009 - A Sunday Brunch run to Santa Maria.
I had trouble making my mouth work and screwed up several radio
calls. Not my best landing either but, the food was good.
January 10, 2009 - Our flight to Payson Arizona.
Listen to the altimeter setting increase as we approach the high
pressure area. Unfortunately it winds aloft was 90 degrees off
the nose hurting our ground speed both ways.
10, 2009 -
Landing at Corona during Santa Ana winds. Corona lands on
runway 25 355 days a year. During a Santa Ana Event we land on
runway 7 and it's usually an adventure. Cross winds, wind sheer and
turbulence keeps one on their toes.
December 15, 2008 - A 1975 Bellanca Super
Viking Sales Video. I must be conservative because I've never done a
Hammer Head Stall in my airplane.
September 2, 2008 - A day in Leadville
Colorado. The highest incorporated city in North America. Landing
and departing Lake County Airport.
June 1, 2008 - Will and I take the
Stearman up to the falls then ride down the mountain like we were on
a sled. All of this was shot within 10 minutes of Santa Paula
February 8, 2008 - A VFR flight to
Bakersfield Meadows airport. Captured some ATC in this video to
satisfy those who wrote me about after the January 26th flight where
I used a music track.
January 26, 2008 - Our planed 22 minute
flight to Big Bear for breakfast was interrupted by a tour of the
snow capped mountains. One of my video cameras had just enough juice
to shoot 30 minutes of tape. Wow, a flight I'll always remember.
December 29, 2007 - Who says an uncontrolled airport can't handle more than one operation a minute? Corona at it's best!
December 3, 2007 - A short video of landing and departing Calexico. Pretty simple but at the end there is a strange call on guard. What's the last thing a pilot hears before the F-15's shoot him down? This video may answer that question.
November 30, 2007 - Is this flight really necessary? My annual expires at midnight and the weather forecasters really missed the mark. A flight in IMC to Santa Paula. One small issue, Santa Paula doesn't have an instrument approach.
November 18, 2007 - An IFR Pick Up and a ILS approach into Santa Barbara. Didn't plan it this way but like what I got on tape. Well received on YouTube also.
November 11, 2007 - A VFR flight into Mojave Air and Spaceport. We were given permission to fly though the Edwards AFB restricted airspace.
September 22, 2007 - A video of us landing at the Borrego Valley Airport.
September 8, 2007 - A flight from Corona to Half Moon Bay, a GPS approach was necessary to get down though the overcast.
July 22, 2007 - A quick flight from Mammoth to Bishop.
July 22, 2007 - A video of the high country on the way to Mammoth for Breakfast. The prop is leaking red dye and you'll see that when we turn into the sun. 36MB
July 6, 2007 - A Video of my propeller being balanced. For some reason this is one of the most misunderstood and neglected parts of aircraft maintenance. The audio is not great but turn the volume up and stick with it. 16MB
June 9, 2007 - A video of a flight from Corona to Columbia for the 2007 West Coast Bellanca-Champion Club Fly-In. 52MB
May 27,2007 - A video of our trip to Santa Ynez for a day at Solvang. I'm thinking about cleaning the lens next time. 58MB
April 1, 2007 - Adrienne and I fly over Lake Powell and Rainbow Bridge National Monument. 19 MB
March 30, 2007 - A VFR flight from Corona California to Page Arizona. Our routing took us over the Grand Canyon. Does anyone expect a smooth ride across the Grand Canyon at 4:30 in the afternoon? 30 MB
March 20, 2007 - Another trip to Chandler AZ. 1:52 flight with about 1 hour in IMC. Last time I heard this many holding pattern calls I was in ATC school. 32 MB
March 11, 2007 - An un-official AOPA users group fly-in at Lake Havasu. Marc Corey Lee and I brave the desert winds for a hamburger and meet with 21 of our closest cyber friends. 52 MB
March 11, 2007 - I edited this out of the above video but it was too good to throw away. Really more of a audio recording than video but the camera had to point at something. At 10:00am Marc and I head east though the Banning Pass as the part 141 carriers arrive from the east. A woman on American 453, row 13B smiled at me and waved as they went by. 32 MB
March 10, 2007 - Enroute to and landing at the Tehachapi Airport.
February 14, 2007 - A trip to Chandler AZ picking up an IFR clearance enroute. Didn't know it but the audio plug fell out before arriving at Chandler Airport. 27 MB
February 3, 2007 - Sunrise Over the Desert! A early morning flight to Coolidge AZ for breakfast with some friends. I thought I had enough background lighting for the before daylight takeoff, sorry. Coolidge was a madhouse and I edited a lot out of the arrival end. 32MB
January 21, 2007 - A trip on a very windy day to the Rosamond Skypark for Sunday Brunch at the Golden Cantina. 14MB
January 14, 2007 - A short video of landing on runway 24 at Flabob airport in Riverside, California. 6MB

December 25, 2006 - A Christmas Day flight to the in-laws. We landed at the Camarillo Airport (KCMA). Notice how long the displaced threshold is! For those who have emailed me there is lots of ATC in this one. 48 MB
December 17, 2006 - A flight from Porterville to Corona. No ATC on this one. I captured a lot of audio but it was everyone at their worst so I simply placed a music track over it. 14 MB

October 8, 2006 - Andrew Harrod and I fly to Paso Robles CA to attend a un-official AOPA west coast fly-in. We flew up in a 2006 Cessna 182, N2019V because the Super Viking is still in for it's annual inspection. 58 MB
September 17, 2006 - A lot of people write me wanting to hear ATC. Here it is! I dropped my plane off in Santa Paula for an annual today and shot video on the way over. Listen for ExecJet 948, if a student pilot had these issues they wouldn't be allowed to solo. 63 MB
August 17, 2006 - Just a quick video to VFR on Top. Very simple no editing. This was only posted to answer a news group question.
August 8, 2006 - We take a day trip to Morro Bay California landing at San Luis Obispo and getting a rental car. Video and audio of our landing at both ends. Good video of California Sea Otters. 33 MB

June 24, 2006 - Canyon run near Plainview Texas. This video is raw. A little boring if you weren't there but the music is fun. Very little editing except for some of the cuss words. The camera makes items look a lot farther away than they are. Big surprise towards end of video. Huge file, 54 MB.
June 23, 2006 - Ron Quillin and I enroute to Miller' Flying Service BBQ Bash this video is our enroute flight only. 9MB
June 17, 2006 - Unique view of pattern and landing at Corona. 4MB

June 9, 2006 - Andrew Harrod and I make a breakfast run from Fullerton to Big Bear City Airport in a Cessna 182, N2019V. Most of this was shot in IMC conditions. There were so many radio calls I didn't place a music track on this one. 22 MB
June, 6, 2006 - My friend Andrew Harrod flew N2019V, a Cessna 182, I worked the camera. Good shots of Glass Cockpit in actual IFR conditions. Santa Barbara for lunch. I hope you're not on dial up, 26 MB

April 27, 2006 - This is the first time the camera was in the plane. I was flying my Bellanca Super Viking from Big Bear to Corona. The weather was MVFR with and overcast layer at 1500. In this video you will see a GPS circle to land approach. When I break out you will see Corona on the nose. 7 MB
