Flying into San Jose !

A few weeks earlier this plane had been delivered and was all over the internet. Imagine my surprise when I saw it taking the runway for departure. Watch this and you'll understand.

Best time of the year to go? Anytime
Flight time in a Super Viking from KAJO? 2.1
Food on the airport? Yes, walk to terminal
Fuel on airport? Yes, but it's pricy
Landing or Parking fees? $40 landing fee plus $20 a night. Some waved with fuel purchase.
Comments about arriving and departing.  If VFR and landing to the north find the Prune Yard on terminal chart.
Things to do at or near the airport. For us IT people training. For normal people the Great America theme park

Arriving at San Jose airport!

Landing at San Jose isn't cheap but sometimes you just have to do it. In my case I saved 3 days rental car so it was worth it. I called ahead and ACM Aviation was the better deal. The $40 landing fee would be waved with the purchase of 17 gallon of 100LL. In addition parking was $20 a night and they promised not to move me once parked. The last item is a big issue with me.

When I arrived three line guys took different positions and directed me to the back of the terminal as promised where I was parked to be left unmolested though my stay.

Three days later I returned for 19 gallons of fuel (wings only). To my surprise ACM Aviation waved $80 of the $100 in landing/parking fees. I paid for my fuel, raided the chocolate chip bowl, grabbed a free bottle of cold water and headed for home. All in all a pretty good experience for a Jet Center.
