Visiting locations within Death Valley

If you're within a couple of hours flying time of Death Valley and not going you're missing a real treat. Quality dinning, hiking or sightseeing this place has most everything in a very unique environment.

Free transportation from Furnace Creek or Stovepipe Wells to anywhere in the village, all you have to do is call. However, this page is about renting a Jeep and touring Death Valley. On this trip we headed north from Furnace Creek into Nevada then doubled back into the park on a one way dirt road. After an hour on the dirt road our first stop was the ghost town of Leadfield. The drive alone was fantastic as the canyon got more and more beautiful the farther we went. After Leadfield it soon turned into a narrow slot canyon then suddenly we popped out again into Death Valley.

Back onto the pavement we headed further north towards Scotty's Castle where we found picnic tables across from the parking lot. We got out the ice chest and had lunch before touring the castle.

Renting the Jeep was really fun and I plan to do it again. There are many other places to see and so little time. Jeep rentals can be found at www.deathvalleyjeeprentals.com or call them at 877-970-JEEP. The gentleman who manages this place was very helpful providing maps and suggestions on where to go.
